Tara Khambadkone with Bears to Share

Tara Khambadkone is a Junior at SCHS who joined Bears to Share when mask-making began in early May. She first started sewing masks because she had a lot of free time and wanted to do something that not only was fun, but benefited the community as well.

This was also a useful learning experience for Tara, as she didn’t know how to sew very well before joining. Although sewing masks can be tough at times, she was motivated by the idea of taking a break from schoolwork, as well as aiding others through this stressful time.

Tara also recommended people joining Bears to share for several reasons. “The idea of mask-making is really creative and the club is very unique,” she said, “The way it’s involved in giving back to the community is super cool, especially in the pandemic.”

Tara shared that her experience with Bears to Share has been great and she wished she joined the club earlier in high school to make bears and masks. She also mentioned how masks were in high demand during the pandemic and how useful mask-sewing is. “It’s really rewarding,” Tara said, “Even though it takes a long time to make one mask, it’s going to someone who really needs it.”
